چکیده

Soil alkalinity is a severe threat to crop production globally as it markedly retards plant growth. Different techniques are used mitigate alkaline stress, but priming considered the most appropriate. The current study was carried out in complete randomized design (CRD) evaluate effect of different on maize grown under levels stress. experiment comprised treatments stress (AS) including, control, 6 dS m-1 and 12 including hydro-priming (HP), osmo-priming (OP) with potassium nitrate: KNO3) redox-priming (RP) hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Results indicated that significantly reduced growth biomass induced alterations physiological attributes antioxidant activities. root shoot subsequent by increasing electrolyte leakage (70.60%), (H2O2: 31.65%), malondialdehyde (MDA: 46.23%) sodium (Na+) accumulation (22.76%) reduction photosynthetic pigments, relative water contents (RWC), total soluble proteins (TSP) free amino acids, (K+) accumulation. However, alleviated alkalinity-induced toxic effects improved OP (KNO3) remained top performing. It appreciably owing synthesis better RWC (16.42%), TSP (138.28%), FAA (178.37%), K+ (31.385) activities (APX CAT) favoring Na+ exclusion maintenance optimum Na+/K+. In conclusion, KNO3 an imperative seed practice improve

Seed priming with hormones does not alleviate induced oxidative stress in maize seedlings subjected to salt stress

Seed priming with hormones has been an efficient method for increasing seed vigor as well as seedling growth under stressful conditions. These responses have in the past been attributed to the activation of antioxidant systems in a range of crops. The results described in this work show that hormonal priming with methyl jasmonate, salicylic acid or CEPA (chloroethylphosphonic acid), an ethylene...

Seed priming with Electromagnetic Field Improved Growth, Nutrition, And Metabolism of Salvia nemorosa L.

In this study, the efficiencies of seed priming with electromagnetic field (0, 2, 4, and 6 mT; 30 minutes daily for 3 days) were investigated in Salvia nemorosa. The exposure to electromagnetic filed led to significant increases in biomass accumulation (mean=53.6 %). Electromagnetic filed treatments significantly increased K, Ca, Mg, and Fe contents in leaves by mean 39.5 %. The electromagnetic...

Effect of seed priming with selenium nanoparticles and plant growth promoting rhizobacteria on improving Quinoa seedling growth under salinity stress

Soil and water salinity are the most important problems that limit crop production, especially in the arid and semi-arid regions. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of growth-promoting bacteria and selenium nanoparticle pretreatment on increasing the tolerance of the Chenopodium quinoa plant to salinity. A factorial experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design with...
